Low Alpine
Anweledig
Ep artwork for Anweledig, provided through the SAIN Records collection on Wikimedia Commons.
Inside the image.
The cover is mostly white, with a narrow vertical strip of a photograph running down the far left edge. In that strip, a pale blue area at the top meets a yellow horizontal band; beneath it is a dark, nearly black structure with indistinct details. The photograph is cropped tightly and occupies only a small fraction of the image, while the broad white field takes up the rest.
The main design sits in the white area. Near the top, the word “anweledig” stretches across the page in large, loosely spaced lowercase letters. Its thin black outlines form rounded, irregular letter shapes, with the white background showing through their interiors. Below, a much larger emblem combines a curved yellow arc with the words “Low alpine”. The arc sweeps from the lower left upwards and over to the right, narrowing to a point; a fine dark outline and a second pale border define its edge. Inside and beneath the curve, “Low” appears in outlined lettering, with “alpine” in larger blue lowercase letters below it. The letters have dark outlines and a slightly hand-drawn, uneven quality. The emblem is centred in the lower half, with generous blank space around it.
The image uses a restrained palette of white, black, yellow, blue and grey. The logo-like lettering and curved emblem are flat graphic elements with crisp outlines, set against the contrasting photographic sliver at the left. There is no visible frame around the cover.
What the image evokes.
The design feels like two different visual worlds sharing a narrow boundary. The clipped photograph at the left suggests a fragment of an ordinary place, with its dark structure and bright yellow band, while the expansive white field seems almost like a clean sheet of paper. The severe difference in scale gives the photograph the feeling of a glimpse through a doorway or a sample left at the edge of a drawing.
The curved yellow sweep resembles a simple mountain outline or a stylised crest, and the blue lettering beneath it has the open, informal character of a hand-lettered sign. Together they suggest a small, self-contained landscape: bright, airy and slightly playful. The outlined word at the top, with its wavering forms, introduces a more whimsical note. The result balances graphic clarity with a modestly homemade feel, as though a neat emblem has been sketched over a blank page while a piece of the outside world remains caught at its margin. That contrast can read as both deliberate and casual, and the image leaves the relationship between the photograph and the emblem unresolved.
