Inside the image.
A square, full-bleed photographic cover shows a solitary broad-canopied tree standing near the centre of a flat, open field. Its dark trunk and spreading crown are silhouetted against a low, brilliant sun positioned just behind the trunk. Rays flare downwards and outwards from the bright point, picking out the uneven ground and the tree’s fine outer branches.
The field fills the lower half of the image, with rough, dark grasses and scrub in the foreground. A thin, level band of distant vegetation or trees runs along the horizon behind the main tree. Above it, a dramatic sky occupies much of the composition: heavy grey-blue clouds gather at the sides and top, while the area around the horizon glows yellow, gold and pale green. The light breaks through in a bright opening behind the tree, creating a strong contrast between the nearly black silhouette and the illuminated sky. The image has no visible border; the landscape extends to all four edges.
Red lettering is set directly over the photograph. Across the top, a widely spaced line of uppercase text reads “CYN I'R HAUL FYND LAWR”. Near the bottom centre, a much larger, stylised red wordmark reads “y M⦿niars”, with a circular sun-like device in place of one letter. Two smaller lines of red text sit beneath it; they appear to read “Yn gynwys dwy gân i Gymru” and “Galw amdana' ti a'i lleuad ar ser”, though the small lettering is not entirely clear. The upper title is spaced across most of the width, while the lower lettering is grouped centrally over the dark field. The lettering is bold and decorative, with irregular, pointed details in the larger wordmark. The image is photographic in appearance, with soft cloud gradations and the fine, dark texture of grasses and branches.
What the image evokes.
The image has the stillness of a landscape held at the last moment of daylight. The tree’s rounded crown gives the scene a quiet, familiar shape, yet the sun’s sharp flare makes its centre almost incandescent. Light seems to pass through the tree rather than simply sit behind it, lending the silhouette a charged, almost emblematic quality.
There is a tension between the open, level field and the turbulent sky. The horizon feels settled and plain, while the clouds gather like weather moving in from the edges. The red lettering introduces another kind of intensity: it is visually assertive against the muted land and stormy blues, but its placement leaves the central tree and burst of light unobstructed. The lower wordmark’s sun-like circular form echoes the actual sun, so image and lettering seem to answer one another.
The scene may recall the familiar visual language of a sunset photograph, but its strong central silhouette and theatrical rays also give it the composed clarity of a poster or a small emblem. It can feel peaceful, even pastoral, while the dark field and weight of cloud keep it from becoming wholly serene. The moment reads as an ending, though the illuminated horizon also suggests a threshold: something is disappearing, and something remains visible beyond it.

Lettering & observation notes
- CYN I'R HAUL FYND LAWR — Across the top edge
- y M⦿niars — Near the bottom centre
- Yn gynwys dwy gân i Gymru — Small line beneath the lower wordmark
- Galw amdana' ti a'i lleuad ar ser — Bottom line beneath the lower wordmark
- The two small bottom lines are difficult to read clearly; their transcription may contain uncertain letters. The circular sun-like mark in the lower wordmark makes the exact letter it replaces ambiguous.
