Inside the image.
A bright, cartoon-style illustration fills a square image without a border. At the centre is a large, upright cartoon bird, shown from the front and occupying most of the height. Its rounded white head has two black oval eyes and a broad, open dark beak; a curved inner line and grey shading give the beak depth. The body is built from broad bands: a dark grey upper chest and wings, a white oval belly, a coral-pink lower section, and a green base. The bird's wing on the viewer's right stretches out and curves upwards at its tip; the other sweeps across the viewer's left side of its chest. Thick, uneven black outlines separate the shapes. A small portion of dark legs or feet is visible beneath the green body, partly obscured by the lettering.
The bird stands against a simplified outdoor scene. A saturated blue sky fills the upper half, with two small white cloud shapes at upper right and another to the bird's upper left. A narrow strip of pale blue water appears along the far right horizon. Behind the bird, low dark-green hills form a gently undulating line, with a few small shrub-like shapes at the left. The foreground is a broad yellow-green grassy slope, rising slightly towards the right and marked by several darker green patches. The landscape is flat and graphic, with no enclosing frame or realistic depth cues.
Large playful lettering reading “Pen Gwyn” runs across the bottom foreground, overlapping the bird's legs and the grass. The rounded, irregular letters have white outlines and soft grey drop shadows. Their fills vary by letter and section in pale blue, green, yellow, coral pink and white; the final word is mostly pink and white. Near the top left, a small white triangular emblem made of three horizontal bands sits above the word “Urdd”, also in white. The image uses clean, flat areas of vivid colour, thick black contours around the bird, and simple, hand-drawn-looking shapes, with no visible photographic texture.
What the image evokes.
The bird's open beak and spread wings make it feel caught in a cheerful call or a welcoming gesture, though its still, front-facing pose also gives it the composure of a mascot on a sign. The bright landscape has the simplicity of a child's picture book: sky, hills, water and grass reduced to a few confident shapes, with the bird made almost toy-like by its bold outlines and coloured segments.
The rounded, multicoloured title lettering seems to bounce across the bottom like a row of cut-out letters, lending the scene an exuberant, handmade character. Against that buoyancy, the bird's dark wings and emphatic outline give the central figure a sturdy graphic weight. The result feels both lively and carefully arranged: a little patch of open countryside transformed into a cheerful emblem, with the animal's theatrical pose drawing the eye back to its face.
