Inside the image.
A square cover is filled by a loose, brightly coloured composition. A large yellow disc sits in the upper centre, partly obscured by a vivid green circle that occupies most of the lower half. Behind these shapes, irregular brush-like swathes of salmon pink and deep violet spread to the edges, with jagged, torn-looking contours and small white gaps between them. The colours are flat and strongly contrasted, with a few fine pale scratches visible across the green area.
A thick, dark red rectangular outline is tilted slightly clockwise across the centre, cutting across both circles and extending close to the left and right edges. Its upper and lower rules frame two lines of oversized, condensed block capitals: “GORAU” above “SAIN”. The letters are yellow, tightly spaced and unevenly angled to follow the slant of the frame. A narrow section at the right end of the rectangle is divided off by dark red lines and contains the words “CYFROL 2”, set vertically in dark lettering against the yellow and green areas. Near the lower left, beneath the frame, small black lettering reads “CANEUON ROC” and “1977-1987” on two lines. The design is graphic and illustrative rather than photographic, combining simple circular forms with rough-edged, painterly colour fields and bold overlaid typography. There is no separate border or substantial empty margin.
What the image evokes.
The design has the punch of a hand-painted sign or a brightly coloured poster assembled from a few assertive shapes. The title frame seems to have been stamped across the circles at an angle, giving the composition a sense of movement and a slightly unruly energy. Its heavy red outline both organises the cover and interrupts the broad fields of colour beneath it.
The yellow disc and green circle can suggest a sun rising behind a hill, though their crisp, almost emblematic simplicity keeps them open to other readings: badges, painted targets, or cut-paper shapes. The rough violet and pink strokes add a more impulsive, almost gestural counterpoint to that geometry. Together, the saturated colours and compressed lettering evoke the immediacy of a street poster or a record sleeve designed to be read at a glance, while the small, quieter lines at the bottom invite a closer look. The result feels exuberant but not polished smooth; its visual order is held together by the tilted frame, even as the shapes and brushy edges seem to push beyond it.
Associations are subjective readings, rather than documented influences or statements of the artist’s intention.
